With Chris temporarily out of action, Aston Villa Review returns to ring in the end of the transfer window and assess the business we know about so far. Aston Villa's promotion hopes have faltered and they now face an uphill battle. At the very least, January has showed that there's work to be done and a long, long way to go.

This week, though, Steve is joined by 7500 to Holte's James Rushton to chew the fat over Villa's busy transfer window. Will shuffling the pack again work the miracle that's needed, or has this been done with an eye on next season instead? There are also two games this week with Steve Bruce's men travelling to Brentford and Nottingham Forest with an eye on a maximum six points.

    • so basically we have some accountants that can make FFP go away as a short term problem?
    • The celebrities probably aren't wrong. It is an alt-right witch hunt. Gunn pissed off a load of alt right clearings in the woods because he's openly critical of Trump and other unicorns of theirs. One of them, who has some really vile and seemingly sincerely held views of his own (and was the driving force behind nonsense like Pizzagate), decided to nail Gunn and dredged up old bad edgy jokes he used to do, in line with his background of making Troma films. I do think Disney have made a mistake bowing to it but I understand why, and they won't be able to back down from it regardless of the backlash.
    • Ah ....Dean smith who has midtable finishes with Brentford and Walsall and concede goals for Fun  - its a wonder no one has snapped him already !
    • Really like Nathan Jones and I could get behind that if we're going in a different direction as I said above. There are a few people who I rate, yet have no idea if/what that can achieve. I'd be excited by a few people though
    • Any of the 6 managers who have been promoted since we have been relegated for start? So sick of these run of the mill absolute piss poor excuses. They don't even make logical sense.
    • If Edens is going to operate the same way with Villa as he did with the Bucks, it means Bruce is gone and he will bring in a "name".  Hired Jason Kidd without the GM of the Bucks knowledge and it was a disaster, but casual fans knew the Jason Kidd name.  No inside knowledge, but it makes me think there are legs to Henry as he has name people will know, especially in New York, where Edens lives.
    • Dean Smith. Gettable. Absolutely is. Much less of a gamble than Henry. Not the sensational choice Henry would be but sometimes that's no bad thing.
    • If you want to gamble\ take chances - then  Nathan Jones from Luton - would take some getting though.
    • Did the Wolves manager know the English game ? Or even the Championship, for that matter ? No, he didn't, but that was no hindrance to him guiding his team to top spot.
