On the pitch, Aston Villa defeats now seem to fly by in the blink of an eye, surprising nobody and deepening the sense of inevitability about the club's Premier League demise. Off it, supporter protests and general unrest is taking hold as boardroom inaction and incompetence raises the fans' anger levels to boiling point.
