Chris is out of action once more because of work commitments but Steve is on hand to take over hosting duties and check in on all things Aston Villa. Except the football. And the table. And the future. He's joined by an old friend of the show, Kirsten Schlewitz, who makes her AVR debut at almost the worst possible moment.

Kirsten is a Villa-biased football journalists with many strings to her bow, from creating the Villa blog 7500 to Holte to the newly inaugurated crowd-funded project Unusual Efforts by way of several European countries most of us know little about. This week's show is a fairly wide-ranging affair; work permitting, we'll be back to something approaching normality next week.

    • There's still a lot of people who haven't put 2 and 2 together with Villa. Like it's some lucky coincidence that Emery is our manager.
    • Morrisons really is the best of no worlds imo. Most things very expensive, range of foods not great, very heavily weighted on cakes/junk food, branded foods seem to cost more than other shops. Their meat is fairly priced and they have a good craft beer selection and that’s about it.    My weekly shop gets done in lidl mainly.
    • The acumen of NSWE has flown under the radar for many years now. Success on the pitch puts more eyes on us. However, that is slowly changing and the sheer ambition of them and financial strength will continue. The project is still in its infancy under Unai.
    • Chelsea looked like they were on the beach against Arsenal. They had a few injuries but so did Villa when they played Arsenal
    • For some reason I had a conference league spot for a league finish and one for the league cup winner   That's not the case, so we're not guaranteed yet. Dagnammit
    • You mean the warts and aids isn't infectious enough for her?
    • There’s no drama in that.  We all have to have all 38 of our 2 hour anxiety sessions. puts hair on our chest builds character me:
    • Can see renaming of parts of the ground, the doug Ellis stand probably being the first to be sponsored and renamed. Potential for 3 of the 4 sides to be seperate sponsored ( obvs not the holte end)  Generating an extra couple million at least, per stand per year would seem easily achieved if we remain in Europe.
    • I’m feeling a bit victimised here. I shop in… Waitrose, M&S, and Lidl. It’s really different shops for different things and some of the stuff in Lidl is excellent. Their cheapo chocolate is far superior to the usual branded shit and just a different animal to main supermarket cheapo chocolate. Their fresh noodles, pak choi, samosas etc is cheaper than anywhere else and no obvious difference in quality to me.  But then, the parmigiano in M&S is actually cheaper and better than the one in Lidl.  There’s a kikkoman soup base I can only find in Waitrose and nowhere else. M&S takeaway is the best supermarket takeaway. Some Lidl wine is really good. But the La Chouffe beer in Waitrose is cheaper than I’ve seen anywhere else locally. The one thing I personally do avoid like the plague, mid ranking supermarkets. The local Morrisons and Tesco shite. And full of riffraff. I guess we’re lucky having the time, money, and transport to be able to shop around. We don’t really do ‘the big shop’ or get an order in to be delivered or any of that stuff.
