  • Darren Makes His Point!

    Teaser Paragraph:

    By John

He may have lost the captaincy and now his starting place so far this season but Darren knows how to score and his goals win us games and turn defeats into draws as was the case again today.

  • This win could be the start of something big!

    Teaser Paragraph:

    by John

After a series of home defeats or at best draws we have a new experience. We have victory a remarkable and definite victory. Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning!

  • What's On Lambert's Mind This Week?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    by Dave_Villa

So, Lambert has shown that he isn’t afraid of making the big decisions, by dropping the previously un-droppable Shay Given for the match against Newcastle. But what exactly are the decisions that will be grinding the cogs in Lambert’s mind on the eve of our next fixture, and how will this affect the shape, personnel and fortunes of our team?

  • Squad assessment

    Teaser Paragraph:

    by JimCohen

So with pre-season well under way, with 3 new boys in and the squad for the U.S.A. announced; I thought I would cast an eye over our current team, assessing the strengths and weaknesses and looking to where Mr. Lambert may well be looking to strengthen.

  3. Down but not out!

    Teaser Paragraph:

    by John

We may be propping up the rest of the Premier League at the moment but we are still in this cup competition so we can still dream of winning it however unrealistic that might seem at the moment!

  4. We're passing the ball 1 2

    Teaser Paragraph:

    by jimcohen

After 28 minutes at Upton Park today, the 3,000 Villa faithful clad in a mix of the traditional claret and "glow in the dark" neon green realised something was different about Villa. We were doing something that for 38 games last season, we very rarely did. Pass the ball!

"We're passing the ball, we're passing the ball! We're Aston Villa. We're passing the ball!"

  5. Safe at last!

    Teaser Paragraph:

    by John

Heroic defending kept us up and effectively brings a close to a sad season that promised little and delivered even less. If this was the season of transition we were warned of I do not like what it has transformed us into!

  6. Bendtner is unlucky and it

    Teaser Paragraph:

    By John Lewis

Bendtner appeared level when what might have proved a winner was ruled out for offside and we have Ireland to thank for a goal line clearance from the same player. But on the balance of pay we would have been unlucky to have got nothing from a game that we shaded. So we continue to get the points we need in singles as the gap between us and those below evaporates.

  7. Huth ball goal stands and denies us a rare win!

    Teaser Paragraph:

    By John

A second point over the Easter holiday weekend has seen us edge ever nearer safety. It would now be unexpected although not impossible for three of the four teams that languish below us to make up a 6 and in three of their cases a 7 point gap in the 6 games that remain particularly as our goal difference is worth the equivalent of another point on all of them.

  8. 4 Minutes almost produce an unexpected comeback

    Teaser Paragraph:

    By John

Four minutes yesterday provided a memory of how games used to be at Villa Park. Fans who up to then were consigned to another defeat were roused by 2 quick goals but unfortunately that also provoked Chelsea to move up a gear and claim their win.

  9. What a difference a win makes! 1 2

    Teaser Paragraph:

    by John

Our late, late winner took us out of the bottom six, increased an already healthy gap between us and the relegation places and made the gap between us and sixth the same as is the gap between us and 18th. Onwards and upwards then?

  10. We lose again!

    Teaser Paragraph:

    by John

So where is the next win at Villa Park coming from and when or will we get those 12 points we are still looking for to secure our safety?

  11. We recover from a 2 goal deficit to claim a point!

    Teaser Paragraph:

    by John

Mark Hughes remains winless at Villa Park as a manager following a game that finished all square and during which we showed some fighting spirit although this result will also stretch our run of home games without a win to three long months.

  12. Wolves 2 - 3 Villa

    Teaser Paragraph:

    by Srathem

Well what can I say, I have waited 12 years to see Robbie Keane in a Villa shirt and it was well worth the wait.

  13. Another two points dropped at home!

    Teaser Paragraph:

    by John

Everton with a makeshift defence were there for the taking. But this was another disappointing home performance save in main by a purple patch at the start of the second half that was brought to an abrupt end with an equalizer that came against the run of play but led to the anxiety of both team and crowd re-emerging.

  14. After the Lord Mayors Show!

    Teaser Paragraph:

    by John

A game that had started with us having great expectations ended with us in despair having seen our team change before our very eyes from Mr Hyde to Dr Jekyll within 48 hours without the aid of any potion.
