The Tim Sherwood Thread

Do we actually know if that's true though.

When we signed Westwood, the Crewe manager said we had a 20 game dossier or something on him. Seems pretty thorough.

Plus that article seems to be Sherwood talking more about Spurs than villa (in terms of scouting)

Pie charts and reports I am sure Collymore mentioned something about this with Fox, Reilly and that other clown we got from Arsenal. This is the basis they use when signing players? There was  a massive rant from Stan on talksport about it

It sounds like the sort of thing people complain is happening when they're not really sure what is happening.

I don't give a **** what Collymore says, and I don't give a ****. what Sherwood says.

"Pie charts" seems to have worked pretty well in most other sporting codes in the last 20 years (see American & Australian professional sports), football has been in the dark ages compared to these.

Sherwood **** the club, not Reilly or anyone else he wants to blame.

Come on, guys, does anyone seriously think we just sign players based on statistics and pie charts. It's just Sherwood talking out of his arse again. And there has been ample evidence from many sources of us having scouts at games. Let's not swallow this shit from Sherwood and his media mates.

For every Jamie Vardy there is a Jordan Bowery. Don't let the media make you think otherwise.

We have essentially been there done that. Yes you will pick up some good players in the lower leagues but it helps if the environment they are coming into is a relatively successful one and not a struggling team.

that letter is quite shit though, it wasnt even the point Tim was making about scouts. Of course a guy is banging in 20 goals scouts are going to go see the player play. His point was that scouts dont want to go to these games to find talent they dont know about, that they wont go down to Fleetwood vs Colchester in the hope of finding a gem that nobody has heard about and would prefer a trip/holiday abroad

Guess who we see every time we hold a tournament or play a match? Scouts. Scouts everywhere. We’ve had United down, Everton and Liverpool. In fact, the Liverpool scouts and coaches regularly come and put sessions on for our U7’s. Now, I’m not a Liverpool fan (United, actually) but they’re more than aware of what’s going on in the region and it’s brilliant to see. Everton even invited those same U7’s down to their Finch Farm training complex

again watching U7s is not the point really as he is talking about lower league games and facilities that scouts wont visit

Which also isn't true anywhere outside of Tim Sherwood's imagination.

How can they watch these 7 year olds and tournaments if they are refusing to visit the facilities they would be using?
