| Gums, though the 25 does not have be named untill close to deadline day, one would assume that those players not included would know their fate before then. it would be in the clubs interest to try to sell said players rather than paying them to sit on their ass. |

Reference to the story regarding interest from Fulham, Villa & Sunderland is here http://tinyurl.com/34fvznk
Here's what it says
""Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini remains undecided in regards to whether or not Stephen Ireland has a future at the club amid mounting interest from a host of Premier League suitors. Liverpool, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Sunderland and even their bitter rivals Manchester United have been linked with the club’s 2009 Player of the Year and although the 23-year-old captained City for 45 minutes during their 2-1 defeat to New York Red Bulls on Sunday, Mancini has hinted he may sell the player.
New Premier league rules stipulate that all squad must be cut to 25 players and therefore Ireland could well find himself surplus to requirements at Manchester City, but Mancini has offered the hugely talented youngster some encouragement by urging the Republic of Ireland international to show him why he is worthy of a place at the club.
Ireland has cut a frustrated figure at Manchester City since the arrival of Roberto Mancini and has subsequently been coveted by a host of suitors who are yet to forget the scintillating form he illustrated prior to the arrival of Mancini. Having won the club's Player of the year award in 2009 it looked likely the player would push on to become one of the stars of the Premier League, but his Eastlands career has gone backwards under Mancini even though the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and perhaps tenously Manchester United have all reportedly coveted the player.
Although the former Inter Milan manager has used the playmaker sparingly he refused to confirm that Ireland’s Manchester City future was over.
Mancini told Sky Sports News: “I have to cut my squad down to 25 and I have more than 30 so it's normal that someone will have to miss out but right now I don't know who it will be.
Speaking about Ireland in particular, the Italian suggested he had not made up his mind one way or other regarding the talented midfielder’s future at the club.
He continued: “I have not decided anything about Stephen (Ireland). He's been no problem on the tour.
“Yes of course he could still have a future. I don't know how it's possible for him to think otherwise.
“It is up to him to prove himself to me.
“I don't know yet if I would accept an offer for Stephen. Certainly there will have to be some decisions taken.
Mancini’s words are like to be a huge boost to a player, who only yesterday pledged to battle for his Manchester City future. The midfielder claimed he was aware of some interest in his services, but has not been contacted directly, and as it stands would not welcome any move.
Ireland told the Guardian yesterday: “I have read in the papers about supposed interest from Sunderland and Fulham and maybe even Aston Villa but I haven't heard anything directly,
"Ideally, I would like to stay and build a future here. I am not going to rush in to anything, anyway. I think it's best if I see what happens during the first half of the season and perhaps give the situation until Christmas.
"If things aren't right at this stage then we can look at it again. I have worked hard during my years at City and I love the club.
"I decided in the summer that I was going to get my head down and do what I can to show the manager that I am worth a place on his team.
"It didn't go that well for me last season, when there were a lot of changes at the club, but it is only a season ago that I was Player of the Year at the club and my view is that I haven't become a bad player overnight. The manager hopefully doesn't think that either."" |

| It looks as though it's out of us and Sunderland to sign him. Surely he'd favour us. |

Cheers MM.
Can i ask if this has anything to do with the Milner deal, or is a completely different transaction? |

Seperate deal and it's not likely to happen anytime soon unless someone else nips in and forces our hand . Don't believe all this we got to sell Milner either for it to happen they were looking at him before Milner became an issue . |

From the City end not Villa's apparently yes but then again they told me that the deal for Milner was done at 28 mill and clearly isn't . Also Onura ( Spelling shocking ) is interested in coming again from the City end . |

Do we hold an interest in Onuha (also shocking spelling no doubt)? |

| Why can't we sign him sometime soon though - why are we waiting if it's not connected to the Milner deal? I'm just impatient for a new signing I guess ! |
