He's not lying. Highest they ever finished was 3rd once in the 80's, and a couple of FA Cups in their whole history. You can argue he's eclipsed that in his tenure alone with a European trophy and 3 back to back seasons of European football. All this to say they're an absolute tinpot club who are carried by being in London.

The typical Moyes signing. Just like when he wanted to sign Lingaard permanently. Rubbish over rated English international? Give Moyes a call.

Lingard had done really well on loan though, that wouldn’t have been a bad perm signing.

It would have though, look at what he did after that at Forest and where he is now. He wasn't going to keep up that decent bit of form he had for very long.

Not to mention the huge financial boost they got from the Olympic stadium they got for free and didn’t deserve. Spam fans need to humble themselves.

Bent saying Phillips well off the pace on Talkshite. Is @striker going to phone in and set him straight?

Just wondering would you show the same impatience if he’d signed for Villa?

100% phillips would get the same level of impatience! people would have been absolutely fuming before we signed him and now lining up to shout I told you so

you could see this coming, he was ok at leeds, at best a solid 7/10 player, he's then spent a serious amount of time not playing due to injuries or not being good enough, how could he possibly be anything but worse?

i looked at the west ham forums at the time of them getting him and the only real silver lining seemed to be "at least player x wont be starting"

Can’t help but feel a bit sorry for him but this should be a cautionary tale for players making moves to big clubs. His career would have been undeniably better had he not moved to city

Yeah, they’ve chewed him up and spat him out (or are trying to, he’ll be back there in the summer).

I don't think it would have. He clearly isn't very good and by moving to city for a lot of money he got himself a big fat payday he never would have got otherwise. He's a bang average player who hit the jackpot. He did alright for himself. He'll probably end up back at Leeds in the championship.

Came on whilst they were 3-1 up, gave away the penalty (somewhat harshly) for their second goal, unsure of his role in the equaliser but given he’s a DCM he can’t have done his job too well, easily sidestepped by Barnes for the winning goal.

Absolute horror show of an appearance.
