  1. Not been on here for a fair while but been keen to see if there was any more news today. I really don't see why everyone is so bothered about the ffp still. There are very easy ways to get around it almost immediately with two new very wealthy owners in place. They both own or are part of a lot of different companies so very easy to plough money into the club legitimately. Training ground sponsorship, training kit sponsorship, naming rights to anything they want to put a name to etc. Etc. Etc. So almost overnight the club can legitimately gain a very large injection of cash so our annual turnover figures go through the roof. Many other teams have done it to balance the books so why can't we? £500 million naming rights to the new coffee machine and bobs your uncle.
  2. That's what I thought too but apparently it is his official page and has been spot on in the past windows.
  3. Jim White on twitter has said we are in for Christopher Samba, Henri Bedimo and Lescott!
  4. Never miss someone berating another's honest opinion on here. I have heard good things about Darida but he is currently getting game time and fitter with every appearance after a lot of niggling injuries. Would be a good acquisition to the squad but sadly feel there is no substance to the links.
  5. I am personally reading this as a win, win scenario. Yes we are not getting the grant holt that was being touted for England 2 years ago. Yes he has been described as overweight and uninterested by the Wigan fans. BUT and bear with me here, what if he never really wanted to move to Wigan in the first place but was effectively forced out of Norwich by Hughton? Would you be to interested in moving to the shithole that is Wigan? I know I wouldn't even if I was getting payed very well for the privilege. He most probably thought it was a backward step in his career and never gave it his all. Now that may sound like a completely negative attitude for a professional footballer to have but it would be understandable. Now look at this opportunity from his mind-set. He will most likely see this as his last chance to get himself into the premier league shop window for the summer. Like him or loathe him he certainly scored some very important goals for Lambert in his first season in the top flight. For such an old fashioned battering ram type centre forward he held the ball up very well and allowed others around him the chance to support him. To be fair to Lambert, he has most likely had a good conversation with Holt and may just possibly get him playing some good football again as they clearly have a good working relationship. So what could possibly be bad about this loan signing? I really don't get all of the negativity on here surrounding it. He will cost us next to nothing I would imagine (possibly a very nominal loan fee), wages will definitely not be extortionate and he is an ex club captain and vital experience to our overly naïve squad. Give him a f*****g chance for god's sake before threatening to kill the owner, CEO and manager!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Well its just come straight from the horses mouth live on Sky that he never deniedit so cue the hysteria on VT! Personally I think he can do a job until the end of the season and teach Tekkers a thing or dirty trick or two. May work out OK.
  7. The way I see our current plight at attracting players is this..... If our funds are as limited as many have suggested on here then who can we realistically attract to the club? Is there any real quality in the Championship or lower that will give us the lift we need in the positions we need to fill for the money we have available? For example, Knockaert at Leicester? Would cost £7m plus I would guess. Vokes at Burnley? See above. Hughes at Derby? See above. Chalobah at Forest? Probably £4m plus I am sure there are many more decent attacking midfielders out there but they are, you would imagine, well beyond our limited budget at the moment. How would you sell the club at the moment to these young, talented and gifted type of players in our current form and playing style/statistics? I have no idea to be honest on either of these questions. So what about the Premier league? Already linked strongly with Hoolahan but will Norwich ever deal with us fairly in the the transfer market? I guess no never in a month of sundays. So who else is there that we could realistically attract to villa park? People have mentioned Lescott, Holtby, Mata(Hahahaha), Defoe(shocker), Milner, Young, Guidetti, Essien, De Bruyne, Ba, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Etc. Etc. but I see not a hope in hells chance of any of these calibre of players wanting to come on loan to us. Then of course there is the fact that even if it was remotely possible any of these names were tempted at the promise of playing time with the up coming World Cup to think about where would the money come from for their inflated wages unless the parent football club will subsidise a massive chunk of it? So we look at the less favourable leagues in Europe and possibly farther afield? But who is out there realistically within our budget and wage structure that would have the required impact? Kiyotake? Here we go again (Would love him here by the way). Defour? See above. Have I missed anybody out that we have been even remotely linked with? Are there any diamonds in the rough that we could polish up into the finished article? Instead of Lambert trying to polish the turds he has already purchased! I just hope when everyone looks at the bigger picture of this transfer window how difficult it actually will be to get a bit of quality into our ranks with the current restraints in place. I am at a loss as to the way to go if I am honest. Either we settle for what we have until the summer and hope to god we can pull off one or two little bits of business like Hoolahan, or we get Lerner to open his wallet again and go for it whilst some players are actually available. Can't honestly see any business happening this window though and it sickens me. I hope and pray we stay up with what we have got, that Vlaar gets fully fit and Benteke finds his scoring boots again or I fear we are well and truly F****d this season. Rant over from a disillusioned villain.
  8. I have just posted this in the match thread for Monday As it seems to be a recurring post match analysis. Lambert's post match comments along the lines of this......I can't fault the effort by the young lads today, they gave their all and were brilliant. Ok 0-4 is a bit flattering to them since they only had 85% possession and 17 shots on target to our 2. Szesny made two world class saves there at 0-1 and Brad only had to be called into action the 15 times. If one of those had gone in it would have been a different game altogether. It was a lot closer than the scoreline suggests. Same shit different day and opposition. Can only see one outcome which is humiliation and know it will be painful to watch. I hope to god I am wrong but I just cannot see any other result the way we are playing at home at the moment. Whatever happened to the football we were playing last year and the start of this? The manager has to take the blame for the way he is setting the team up surely? Completely lost all faith in Lambert and the team as a whole to get us playing attractive football again with the team he has compiled. Disillusioned villain here.
  9. This for me, Lamberts post match comments along the lines of "I can't fault the effort by the young lads today they gave it their all and were brilliant. 10. Loan anyone? I know it goes against the grain in the current club stewardship but, imagine Kaka feeding Tekker's? My god he can break a team down on his own never mind anyone else!
  11. We all know we need a good No.10, this do for a couple of years? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23893239
  12. Well he has turned us down, this job must be a poisoned chalice as no-one seems to want it!
  13. This is the best thread ever! Oh and he is merely pointing out that in all honesty, the football he made Villa play this season desrved us to go down and that ginger knob to be six feet under where he is standing.
  14. Just out of curiosity, has it not dawned on people that this entire debacle of McCleish was just a ruse? I mean, Randy knew his stock was falling with the fans yes? So how do you get the fans back on side? Employ the most hated man in B6 and put restraints on wages, sell your best players from underneath him, tell him not to renew any contracts above say 20K and tell him to get us into europe along the way? I think it has been the biggest PR stunt ever! An added bonus is the fact that that ginger muppet will never get a job on these shores ever again! It is utter genius as far as I am concerned, or have I got an over active imagination? You decide but I bet I am right!!!!!!!
