AndyClarke
FM2014 has now been officially announced, not long until you all get the opportunity to savage me for not rating players as you'd have hoped! FM2014 Announcement

villarule123 Posted August 14, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted August 14, 2013 They do seem to be running out of features, they're just tweaking the game now. It should just be updated instead of a new game, I'll still buy it though. FM13 was probably one of the best FMs, along with 05 and 09 What about Nostalgia mode? Have a layout and database of all the classic FM games. All the legendary FM players in one database, Rugratsamee, Samba, Robinho, Cavenaghi etc. Would add something able to be called a new game!

Pilchard
Saving the game to a cloud server is brilliant and much needed. Having said that, I found it hard to get into FM13 and ended up going back to FM12.

hogso
I'll be skipping it this year, was very disappointed with FM13. I say that most every year, but still end up buying, often after the January update and a price drop

villa4europe
What about Nostalgia mode? Have a layout and database of all the classic FM games. All the legendary FM players in one database, Rugratsamee, Samba, Robinho, Cavenaghi etc. Would add something able to be called a new game! I created one on 12 with legends such as best, pele, maradona etc put about 400 odd on there in their original youth teams, but it didn't really work, there are a few edits you can download off neoseeker with similar ideas personally the biggest improvement needed is scouting of regens from other clubs, get to around 2018 onwards and my competitors just seem to be awful at scouting meaning it gets easier and easier, very rare that another club will sign a regen that I want
Mark8691
I'll be skipping it this year, was very disappointed with FM13. Was also very disappointed with Fm2013. Also I think my time with the series has come to an end now. Must be 3 decades of playing most of them, but just play them less and less with each release now and soon get bored with it.
villarule123 Posted August 15, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted August 15, 2013 I still enjoy them immensely, I've been playing since 01/02 and I still get the same buzz when I win anything with Villa. Easily my most played game of all time
Popular Post AndyClarke
It is funny, because I bet everyone in this thread can recall a time (it might even be now!) when you rushed home on a Friday to play CM/FM all weekend, eating nothing but coco pops and not leaving the house. Unfortunately as time passes, other priorities emerge and take precedent over a glorious campaign to lead Walsall to Champions League glory with a bunch of under 20s. That is why people start losing interest, as the game evolves and becomes ever more immersive, that leaves behind those who are unable to commit the time and effort they once did. The game (talking FM2013) is actually pretty easy to use, it just takes some getting used to and for a new player it must be a daunting task. That is where the problem lies, if you are getting into or back into the FM series (I include CM in that) it doesn't have the simplistic (compared to now) charm it once did. Our rose tinted specs remind us of the glory (coco pop eating) days when it was all so intuitive and our favourite player scored goals for fun, now we try the same tactics but they don't work, our new favourite player has a strop because you put your arm around him and told him there was more to come from him in the second half. There are two elements at work here, firstly imagination, back in the days of CM1, 2 and 3 we conducted our team talks, player discussions and interviews on the toilet, in bed, on the way to the shops or in the shower, they always worked. With each feature that comes along, the less our imagination has to add to the experience, that is sad in some ways but a sign of the times and the amazing complexity that can be built in to what is just a piece of software. The second element is that as we get older, we lose touch with the game due to the ravages of real life and the lack of time to commit, so it is that much harder to learn because we don't have the time to do so, there is definitely an FM 'sweet spot' in our lives where the escapism it offers allows us to disappear into our own footballing World. Haven't played regularly since 08... so as you can imagine. Daunting is exactly the word I'm looking for...
