Ha, yes! I have started the new FIFA thread, but I do not even play FIFA! HA-HA-HA!

 

First details and screens have been released by EA.

 

 

Pure Shot— Shooting has been transformed. Players have the intelligence to adjust their stride and approach angle to find the best position for hitting the back of the net. Well-hit balls feel satisfying and goals are rewarding. As well as quality strikes, players can now shoot while off balance or rushed.

Real Ball Physics — Strike the ball with more force and finesse. Realistic ball physics now determines the trajectories of balls in game, enabling players to strike the ball with force from distance, drill low rising shots with accuracy, and blast dipping or swerving shots, just like real footballers.

Protect The Ball — Dominate midfield and dictate the tempo of a match. Fend-off and block defenders from the ball while dribbling at any speed. Protect the ball from opponents to control play through midfield and dictate the pace of the match. Plus, out-muscle opponents for position before receiving the ball, then turn defenders to carve out opportunities.

Teammate Intelligence— Better decision-making delivers tighter, smarter marking and improved run tracking. Defenders recognize opportunities to provide support and win back possession. Attacking players have new ways to outsmart their opponents and break down tighter, more intelligent defences by creating space for themselves, running along the backline and checking their pace.

Sprint Dribble Turns— Utilize quick, explosive cuts and turns to beat defenders one-on-one while sprinting with the ball. Players can move in any direction, preserving their natural momentum and maintaining possession of the ball.

Variable Dribble Touches— The First Touch Control of dribbling varies a player’s touch when dribbling with pace. Skilled players have the touch and control to stand out while less skilled players will experience fewer perfect touches and more uncertainty dribbling, creating opportunities for defenders to win back possession, and placing emphasis on building play through midfield.

2nd Chance Tackles—The tackling zone has been extended to enable defenders to combine different types of tackles, recover from missed tackles quickly, and have a second chance to compete for the ball in any tackling situation.

Curling Lofted Through Balls—Players have the ability to curl the ball around opponents to deliver precision passes to teammates or send the ball into space.

Skill Games–A competitive practice mode that enable players to learn or master the fundamental skills necessary to compete at FIFA 14. Become a better player, faster, no matter what your skill level, competing against yourself or friends in all-new mini-games.

Career Mode— Search for talent year-round with the new Global Scouting Network that brings the world of professional scouting to life. Develop and refine your own scouting network. Evaluate footballers to uncover the attributes of players who could bolster your squad during the transfer windows. A new hub delivers easy navigation, fewer interruptions and live scouting reports.

Complete Authenticity—All the authenticity EA SPORTS is known for with officially licensed clubs, leagues and more than 15,000 players.

Think I am done with Fifa as well, I have had ever Fifa since 1994 and most of them I have bought on the day that they have come out.

 

I got Fifa 13 and played it for abour 2 weeks and then just used to put it on when me mates came round, I sold it after a few months

 

To be honest I think after the deadpool game I wont bother at all buying anymore.

It's just minor tweaks at this point now, the tackling thing looks like it'll be a nice addition.

 

They're always going on about how shooting, ball physics etc are changing but really they don't.

I thought they would make the career mode playable online on this one, like NHL? Maybe not then!

 

Those changes do sound good though, lets see if they actually make a difference. Shooting is pretty unrealistic in FIFA, you rarely score a goal that is slotted into the corner, it always leaves the ground when you shoot, if anyone understands where I'm coming from.

All I really want from Fifa is ranked 2v2 mode!!! Really can't understand why they havent included it. It seems stupid that you and your friend cant play together on the same team against two others in a ranked mode. There must be a huge demand for it.

 

Or even like Be A Pro but two people can control "all".

That would be pretty good but I would more than likely end up chinning my mate who normally plays Fifa with me because he gets so wound up by games it is unreal

It might be a little petty, but I'd love for them to get the crowds and presentation right like NBA2K13 does.

Any chance that they remove the 5'2" midgets that go running around in club? I can accept being done over by pace and sweaty goals, but don't tell me that the little midget is going to win almost every 50/50 header and that he outmuscles or tackles any other player with alarming regularity.

 

Also, please lessen the effectiveness of the fake shot turn. It's comical how hard the AI falls for it every single time.

Menus that don't move slower than a broken barge stuck in treacle would be a start.

 

SFX, in particular Crowd SFX, in both FIFA and PES is pretty woeful. It just hasn't kept pace with the other advancements and it wasn't particularly brilliant to start with. The focus always seems to be on immersing the player in the game and this is a glaring omission in achieving that.

Yes! I was going to put this in the things that piss you off but shouldn't thread but I think it should!

 

So annoying having to wait after every exit from a mode.

Really, it's the one thing that should be the easiest to fix. There are no complex AI decisions or player models. Just click and go where you can. I don't need a song and dance when I went to change settings. It's infuriating to think that they think that the UI is easy on the players.

 

Just give me a background with the team logo to the side and options of what mode I want. No one cares about the menu!

I won't be getting it for a few reasons really.

 

The one thing I really enjoyed in previous games was being able to set up an online league with my mates accross the country who all used to play during uni days. Now we have to take it it turns and manually write the scores down!

All the previous FIFAs (well i didnt have 12) we used to set up a league and play each other - absolutely shocking that such a simple feature is missing.

I used to set up VillaTalk fifa legues too using this feature but iuts no longer possible. stupid.

 

13 i found extremely buggy, 90% of the time i pause the game the system just keeps flicking through all the menu options so i cant select the option I want.

The number of times I try to pass to a player and the system decides to pass to a different player is so frustratng, not to mention the number of shots from the edge of the box that get blocked by your own player.. how often does that happen in real life (or even in past FIFA games??)

 

The issue with the online pass as well, every few weeks I have to re-download the activation pass as I keep getting an error!

 

Its still fun to play I suppose but its annoying that the games gone backwards since FIFA10 imo.

 

The other thing to consider is that the game will be released around September time, and those of us that plan to get the next gen consoles - they are expected pre christmas so you wont get much gaming time out of it, or have to buy it again for the new console.
