symmouk
Hey all, I did think about putting this in the match thread, but we are trying to drum up as much interest as we can on this to give the big buy the send off he deserves. Mat Kendrick, Jack Woodward from the media are backing it and there will be a mention of it in the Birmingham Mail over the next few days. We have a lot of the youth and reserve team backing it too with Jack Grealish, Emre, Gary Gardner and more Re-Tweeting. We have so far printed off 500 Carlos masks and will be handing them out to fans before the game. we are calling on all fans to come in curly wigs, spanish flags, print off Carlos masks themselves. Would really appreciate everyones support on this, and you can follow @micsymmonds or @KingCarlosDay on twitter for more info on it and to have any questions answered. I hope all of you going will come out and support and thank Carlos this way, and although most of us dont agree with him going, it will be nice for him to feel appreciated. Thanks everyone! VillaAndLoyal
This is absolutely class and so deserved. Hopefully a send off to rival the one Olof got at West Ham. I love King Carlos - favourite player for many a year. He's a class act on and off the pitch and the floods of comments to him on Facebook and Twitter just shows how much he means to us, and us to him. I will be getting my Spanish flag and wig sorted. I really hate fancy dress, but frankly this guy deserves it! If every modern day professional footballer had as much dignity, tact, passion and grace as this man has, the game would be a better place. Gutted he's leaving (the good ones always do, right?) but I wish him well and hope his next set of supporters appreciates him as much as we all do. Carlos Cuellar - Villa's centre-half! NB:- I hope the Mods do the sensible thing and keep this thread in the main forum. It needs as much exposure as possible.
Oaks
What about Heskey day? Anyway, I believe it will be sack McLeish day sadly...it's more important.
flamingsombrero
Met him briefly in Walkabout where he was watching the world cup final in his Spain top Real nice guy. Never really hit the heights expected (although that certainly wasn't all his own fault) but a good servant to the club none the less.
symmouk
It wont be - every villa fan i have spoken to who is going doesnt care about the McLeish thing, this is our chance to say bye to Carlos. Our away support is normally fairly supportive of the players. McLeish is 99% gone anyway - its going to be an awesome day out - Heskey will get a "Heskey Half time"
VillaAndLoyal
Wear a Cuellar mask or wear a McLeish mask? Hmmm, not really too hard of a decision. I think people could be surprised by the amount of Spanish flags in the away end on Sunday - I know the Norwich fans certainly will be! I wonder if anyone is dressing up as Bin Laden this year? Quite frankly, I'd rather have him as our manager. And he's dead.
rodigan
we're all working on the heskey hat-trick dance, which will be performed by both villa and norwich fans when he delivers it to us as a farewell present on sunday.... nice touch for king carlos... smetrov
Ah the Cuellar myth lives on. an £8m player - who never managed to oust Dunne & Collins - and when he got in the team quickly got injured again. If we had £8m to fund a replacement I would hope he makes a bigger impact than Cuellar.
Shillzz
Must have missed the train on this one then; is he definitely going?

AndyClarke
Seems like a nice bloke, average centre half, below average footballer. Not sure why he would deserve a send off rivalling Mellberg, would give him a wave good bye and wish him all the best but no more.
MonsXI
Smetrov and AndyClarke have it spot on!
Shillzz
But still, he remains one of the more likeable characters in the squad. There aren't many players who we could scratch a compliment together for.
smetrov
Smetrov and AndyClarke have it spot on! I know - we are starting to get a bit like Liverpool.
Bazdavies79
I wish him luck, but his performances didn't really match his pay packet. Why the big send off?
Morley_crosses_to_Withe
I wish we'd have had an Isaiah Osbourne day I'll never forget the time he signed an autograph for me and I heard he once said hello to a young supporter in a restaurant. Top bloke and worth a send off befitting of a legend.
Stevo985 Posted May 10, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted May 10, 2012 People like him. WHy do people have a problem with that? No he didn't live up to his price tag (although being forced to spend most of his playing time out of position would have something to do with that, but that's another story) But he's not getting a send off because he's a good footballer, he's getting a send off because he's liked by (most of) the fans. He gives it is all, he never has a bad word to say about the club, and the fans respond to that. I'm right behind this. Not going to the Norwich game but good luck to everyone trying to sort it out.
