John Percy, FYI...

Tim Sherwood is ready to revive his bid to sign Emmanuel Adebayor and will complete a deal for Joleon Lescott on Tuesday.

Sherwood will make a late move to take Adebayor on deadline day after the Tottenham Hotspur forward's switch to West Ham collapsed.

Adebayor has already met Sherwood for talks and remains a target for Villa in a loan deal which could run until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old is training with Spurs' development team and has no future under Mauricio Pochettino, with his £100,000 a week contract expiring next summer.

But Sherwood, who successfully revitalised the Togo international's career during his spell at White Hart Lane, is still considering a last-ditch attempt to sign him before the window closes.

He said: "I can only talk about him as a footballer and a friend, he's a good guy and a very good footballer. It's a shame he's not played on a regular basis more often. It depends on how the dominoes go.

"Ade has been used to training with the reserves, he's been doing that for a number of years since he's been at Tottenham which is a shame for someone with such a talent.

"The due diligence is done, I know the player and then it's up to me to get the best out of him if he was to come here. But he's a Tottenham player - well he's not, he's a Tottenham development player! Never rule it out, but don't rule it in either."

Lescott is due to have a medical at Villa's training ground on Tuesday and will complete a £1.5million move from West Bromwich Albion.

The former England international has been offered a two-year deal by Villa and leaves Albion after barely 12 months.

I think this counts as "news".

Him and Lescott in tomorrow and I think we can all agree that this has been a pretty decent window.

no I wouldn't agree

Why?

I've got to say, I'm confused as to how anyone wouldn't consider this a successful window - Bunn, Crespo, Lescott, Amavi, Gana, Veretout, Ayew, Traore, Sinclair, Gestede and Adebayor would be more than most of us would have dreamed of at the start of the summer and for me would represent the most impressive recruitment in a single window I can ever remember. We've lost players too, but that's the nature of things - I think you can make a strong argument for this being the best transfer window we've ever had.

Richard, what's been missing for you to make this a pretty decent window?

Oops - good point - that means we could pick a decent eleven in new signings.

A window with so many good players coming in that I struggle to remember all of them. It's been rubbish etc.

OBE- I am also happy with the window, however, it is worth noting that only 4 of our new signings made the team on Saturday, one of whom was Gestede who has many question marks against him. We should also take into account that we lost our best 2 players, along with Vlaar and Cleverley from last season.

It has been a good window but I'd question whether it was the best we,ve ever had. \\\\\Lescott for Clark would be another improvement but as it stands, our best bet currently for goals is Kozak.

Its all very well claiming you want rid of the loosing mentality but many of the losers are still here-Whatever you say about them, Benteke, Delph, Cleverley & Vlaar were not losers.

We need this team to gel & somehow, we need goals from Sinclair, Grealish and Traore-All of whom should be starting imo.
