Bomb Squad v 2

So who's in it this season then seeing as we'll be making another 3-4 signings I reckon.

Well from the friendly today I didn't see Senderos, Cissokho, Tonev, N'zogbia, Joe Cole and Richardson.

Gil, Gardner and Grealish were injured so no concern there. No idea where Gabby was but he's safe as houses here.

Seems a few of those played in that Forest Green friendly which I'd say gave an indication of those who have little future here.

Baker is another one, you'd have thought with Okore out he'd have played some minutes today given his brittle fitness but again not sure where he was. We surely need another CB in if he's not got a long term future here.

I doubt we will have a bomb squad this year as the bomb squad while players we wanted to get rid of was players that were just frozen out. I think Sherwood type of guy that wont just freeze people out and will give them a chance

Richardson is the most obvious casualty so far with the signing of Amavi.

With so many players sold already, I can see all players given a chance to prove themselves (even Tonev!) and provide competition.

I can't see N'Zogbia getting in the team though, and I have a sneaky feeling Sanchez will find himself behind Gueye and Westwood - plus if we get in any of the other central midfield rumours.

Jordan Ayew will see Gabby spend more on the bench than the pitch.

But I don't think we'll see a 'bomb squad' as we had before.

I don’t expect this will be popular but I wouldn’t mind seeing Bacuna on that list if we could replace him; the last two games he has looked bloody awful.  Perhaps he can do a job, but he doesn’t inspire much confidence tbh.

Really? From the run in last year Senderos and Cissokho were both frozen out when both are good enough to be in the 18 imo, Senderos from his limited games was better than Baker.

Some of these I've listed have barely featured in pre season so and some will obviously be left out of the regular 18. Not sure they'll all get loans out either.

Senderos never played under Sherwood in fairness, he never liked the look of Cissokho and was never his type of full back

as for Richardson I think he be kept around as he is versatile enough to bulk up the squad, saw he was also captain against Forest Green

I think Hutton is on list too ,he is playing now as only Bacuna is an alternative but I don't think he is rated by TS. Guzan is in same position

Sendaros ,Cissoko , Tonev 100% no future

Baker ,Cole , Richardson ,N zogbia Kozak he would let go but if no one takes them they will still form part of the squad to cover injuries.

I'm probally In a minority but I'd add kozak to the list.

In my mind you definitely are.

The guy is lacking a lot of fitness but he's still been our best performer during pre-season and we definitely haven't had a player like Kozak for many years.

His intelligence on the pitch appears better than Tekkers, that includes his awareness at the first pass, Tekkers had goals in his mind rather than link up. He's quite like Carew but I actually feels he's technically superior. I wasn't ever that sure but having watching him pre-season he definitely hasn't lost what he initially showed when we signed him.

Anyway as for a bomb squad, I doubt they'll be one, but the list at the top are the most likely replacement squad players, and that's how it should be. The players above have shown they are fragile and on the wrong side of their career, people like Baker might be added too but only because he just stay fit.

Sherwood is a divisive character but I have a feeling a humble player could find his way back in, whereas with Lambo it was difficult (perhaps due to his coaches) and a bomb squad decimated morale.

Great post Kingman, interesting too because with all those gone I look at the squad and I still think it's one of the best we've had in a while.

I don't think it's a bomb squad but there are certainly players we'd like to depart

Cissokho

Senderos

Cole

Nzogbia

Tonev

Baker

I'd say if we could shift all of them it wouldn't be a surprise
