Zhan_Zhuang
Just a quick query if anyone uses a VPN or could recommend something please? I must admit to having poor knowledge of this sort of thing so any advice would be helpful, thanks.

dont_do_it_doug.
Download ZenMate ZenMate is broken. The UK VPN is behind a pay wall and I have been having disconnect issues with the others, plus it keeps changing my Google homepage to Dutch Google! Clogs ahoy. HolteExile
Is a VPN pretty much the only way to access sites such as Kick Ass and EZTV now? Not that I approve of that sort of thing at all.
norwegianvillain
Anybody know which VPN I should use in China? I've tried Private Internet Access and StrongVPN (only used them in the UK), but I wasn't very satisfied with either of them.

I don't think anyone will be able to help unless you actually say what you are trying to do and why you think it'll be blocked. Use tor otherwise. I have used Astrill and this works. Not all work as China blocks some of them.

PompeyVillan
I use NordVPN. It's good. I use it in public wifi hotspots as everyone should. Loads of servers and most are very fast. I have friends that live in China, they are very careful about their Internet usage and the use of VPNs etc. As foreigners and academics they're prime targets for surveillance. Be aware using a VPN doesn't make you anonymous and you are only as safe as the VPN you trust, if they are compromised in terms of their professional integrity, data leaks or exploits, so is your data potentially. A useful tool though.

If you connect to an unknown network you can't know if your VPN session has been "man in the middled". I'd trust my mobile operator with VPN connections before any public network.
