5 Songs You Could Pick to Never Hear Again

I'm not ashamed to say I like Dire Straits, although I know that admission opens me up to heaps of ridicule, especially amongst Brits. That said, I heard "Sultans of Swing" on the radio today, and I almost wanted to drive my car into a utility pole. That would make my list, possibly.

What songs make you homicidal/suicidal?

I feel like my list is too modern, but that brand of happy-go-lucky "everything is going to be alright" posi-pop that seems to be ruling the airwaves recently actually offends me. I mean, I hate the Eagles as much as the next guy, but I think I can listen to "Hotel California" without feeling my blood pressure rise, at least sparingly. But the posi-pop makes me want to strangle puppies. And I love puppies!

Daniel Powter - Bad Day
Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are
Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
James Blunt - Beautiful

Michael Bublé - Haven't Met You Yet

Oh, and I can't effing stand "Tempted" by Squeeze. There's an older song for you. It's like the musical equivalent of lukewarm tapioca pudding.

Oh, and anything by Train! And the Counting Crows. Their entire back catalogue.

Bohemian rhapsody

Fat bottomed girls

We are the champions*

up the junction

Obla dee obla da

*and everything else Queen have ever done. I only put squeeze on there for variety, even though I don't like it, it's not in the same league of "Gaargh" as the others

yeah i could go without listening to a lot of queen songs ever again, purely because im fed up of hearing them. not a big queen fan anyway although their early stuff was decent. brian may is a superb guitarist and they are a great band in terms of musicianship.

everytime kashmir comes on by zep i usually switch it, monster of a song but after all this time its really boring.

Agree with everything you say about Queen, Ruge.

To pick one of my own - Don McLean, American Pie. It was genuinely groundbreaking when it came out, and I thought it was fantastic. But **** me, am I sick of hearing it after forty-odd years.

american pie is another song which does my head in now although when i first heard it i loved it. anything by the red hot chilli peppers also gets turned off now, used to be an alright band but they just get on my wick now.

wonderwall - oasis

another one bites the dust - queen

paranoid - black sabbath

sweet child o mine - guns n roses

mistletoe and wine - cliff richard

i could go on, and could also say that i would die happy without hearing any song by the above artists ever again.

paranoid and sweet child of mine although over played i still enjoy listening to them. the rest that you mentioned can piss off.

Agree with the wonderwall suggestions, a song hailed as great piece of songwriting that is actually a load of piss.

"and after all, you're my wonder wall"

What does that even mean? And all sung from a drab nasal whiney talentless prick.

i love november rain. completely self indulgent by that prick axl rose who at one time i idolised but its a great song, their stairway to heaven if you want to catagorize it. great piece of music by a band that could of been so much more, i mean who after one album decides for their next album they are going to release two albums with about 18 songs on each album?

crazy train and mr crowley and various other ozzy songs do my head in now, great when first heard them and as a whole are good songs but if i never heard them again it would not bother me.

Yes this times infinity. I hate Crazy Train.

Not as much as I hate shit like Bruno Mars and Pitbull and any other chart wank that "features" someone, and I have only heard about ten seconds of any of that bilge.

As for proper music...

Stuff that makes me change radio channel;

Def Leppard

Bon Jovi

Guns N Roses

A lot of overplayed Motley Crue

Bob Dylan

Disco Sucks

Disco-Demolition-a-500x358.jpg

it was like the worst of the 1980's, except of course, it was 1979

these days, I guess people would have to bring their mp3 players and press delete

other than the occasional family car journey I'm rarely forced to listen to music that's abhorrent, although I do have a problem with 'rock' especially when it's not really rock, but actually all that MOR shite like Boston or REO Speedwagon or 10cc or Van Halen .... ironically, I think that was the stuff that was liked by the organisers of Disco Demolition
