Demitri_C
Well after carnival cruises kindly cancelled our carribean cruise for mine and the Mrs honeymoon, virgin persuaded us to go Jamica for our honeymoon ahead of Barbados. The Mrs is abit worried about safety there but I done a bit of research there seems no different from most places that have their rough parts. She is also concerned that it might not be very "honeymooney" even though we got sandals resort for no extra cost as a good will gesture. Anyone been Jamica? If so what was their experience like? Ease my fears please!
tonyh29
There are a couple of sandals resorts in Jamaica ( might even be 3 thinking about it ) Ochoa Rios was the one I stated at but you can visit the other resorts via a mini bus they lay on.... I went to one of the others but it didn't appear as good as OR ( busier and not as nice a beach) The rooms aren't what I would luxury if I'm honest , they are by Caribbean standards but if you were in say Dubai it would be more like a 3 star ... Comfortable enough and you get all your food and drink whatever room you go for but it may pay to upgrade a few levels .... Barbados I hired a car and drove around and we wandered around Bridgetown at night with the kids ... I'm not sure im would be so lax in Kingston Town if I'm honest , I ventured out the resort for a walk on my own and encountered a few local drug dealers who tried to sell me something but they were harmless and didn't push it ... I'd stay in the resort or on escorted trips though if i were you The dunnes river climb is good though I heard a rumour they've stopped people climbing it now so look into that before you book ... Also the swim with dolphins is worth doing Hope I'm not sounding negative I should stress you'll still have a great time there , it's the Caribbean at the end of the day Edited February 26, 2015 by tonyh29
Demitri_C
Tone is there anywhere you havent been? Thanks for the info Yes thats what the lady from Virgin said you have a choice of three Sandals resorts, what is the distance from each resort? Please dont tell me its on other side of island and will take hours to get to! Checked out the resturants at the resort looks real good to be fair. out there I am definitely not venturing out to kingston looks rough and there is a lot of gang trouble. Will definitely do the dolphins and the safari. Looks like there is a hell of a lot to do
NorthernGordon
Kingston is safe enough if you know someone who can show you around. Being a reggae DJ, I've got a lot of contacts over there and when I go with the missus shortly after yourself, in winter 2017, I'll be going to some recording studios there to get what they call "specials" or "dubplates", which is where a singer or rapper cuts a track with your own name in it bigging you up. The Rae Town district of Kingston has an oldies music night every Sunday night from about 9pm until the sun comes up again and many UK, US and European visitors attend that. It's just some bloke who sets his DJ stuff up outside a bar and people dance in the street. If you spend the entire holiday in the Sandals resort, you won't see the real Jamaica.

That is the problem: we dont know anyone to show us around mate! We will go out to do the safari, swim with dolphins, bob marley musem etc so we will get out the complex for sure Beaches good I take it?
