Demba Ba is a target for Hull and Aston Villa who have joined the race to bring him back to the Premier League.

New West Brom boss Tony Pulis is also understood to be interested in a move for the former West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea striker.

But Besiktas Vice president Ahmet Nur Cebi claims to have had firm offers from Hull and Villa for 29-year-old Ba.

The Senegal striker has scored 14 goals in 20 appearances for Besiktas this season.

He hit 29 goals in 57 appearances for Newcastle to earn a move to Chelsea in January 2013.

His opportunities were limited at Stamford Bridge where he was mostly used as a substitute and managed just 14 goals during his 18 month spell at the club.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is searching for more firepower as the club have scored just 11 goals so far from 22 games, at a rate of 0.5 goals per game.

Hull boss Steve Bruce is desperate for a striker to shoot the club out of relegation trouble. He failed with a move for Jermain Defoe who chose Sunderland and has even been linked with a bid to tempt former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan back to England.

The 35-year-old is currently at Japanese outfit Cerezo Osaka where he has six months left on his contract.

Meanwhile Villa chief executive Tom Fox claims owner Randy Lerner is not ‘motivated to sell’ Aston Villa right now.

The American billionaire put Villa on the market last summer but no buyer has materialised despite ongoing speculation.

Lerner has opened his cheque book to bring in Carles Gil for £3.2m this month - but Lambert has admitted he is again working with limited funds.

England midfielder Fabian Delph has also penned a new four-and-a-half year deal and Fox said: “I don’t think he (Lerner) is a motivated seller right now.

“I think he’ll want to make sure that he’s put Aston Villa on the best possible path for the future.

“He’s very involved in the football club.”

Villa have also reopened discussions with Manchester City over a deal for winger Scott Sinclair.

Villa’s preference is to sign the player on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

And while City have wanted £3.5 million for the ex-Swansea City player, they may now be willing to accept a compromise.

Talks have resumed in the last 48 hours and a deal could even be completed before Villa travel to Arsenal on Sunday.

Been linked with a few clubs, West Brom are one I think, but I'd definitely be happy with him coming here. Can't see it happening.

neither can i, i know it's the Mirror and chances are it's rubbish! but their owner has said we have already made a offer!! here's hoping!

Just saw that apparently it was a €13m bid placed by us. Definitely rubbish!

Their owner says...

"We rejected offers around €13M from Hull and Aston Villa for Demba Ba and a €12M offer from Tottenham for Töre."

So maybe not quite the short term thing I thought. That's about 10m

I can't see us paying more than £4m for a player these days, at £10m+ we might as well forget Ba!

I assume it'd be a very short term thing given his age. Might have a bit of the Keane about it. I wouldn't be against it

Diego Forlan is 35. Reading full sentences is difficult sometimes.
