Bye Bye come June!

Okay guys, this is not a relegation thread or when Randy will be leaving or when a new manager will arrive.

It is just a question if anyone knows which of our current squad will be out of contract come June 2015.

I am aware of the obvious ones in Vlaar, Bent & Delph but do we have any others set to be OOC?

Neither Vlaar or Delph are going to sign new contracts which is a shame but as of for the rest who cares.

Vlaar might sign another deal through lack of interest, but the club might possibly not now offer a deal because of the emergence of the young guys.

Do not know about the young lads, but if the club think any have potential, they would be cheap and might be an idea to sign then up and get them loaned out.

I would say it might be too soon to get rid of DJ, who has shown he might have potential.

I'd let Johnson go, personally.

He's looked (almost) decent in the few times we've seen him for the first team, but he was outshone for years in the U21s by Gary Gardner. Gardner is the better of the two players, and even he can't make it in our team yet.

Well, Delfouneso was supposed to be outshining Weimann, and this season he scored just as much (or as little, I should say) as Weimann, only in the Championship.

The way they perform at U21 level doesn't always reflect on how they will perform in professional football.

Not that Weimann is great, by any means!

from the U21s I think Seigrist, Watkins, Drennan, Burke, Kinsella and Cowans

Delph aside I can safely say I'm entirely untroubled by the prospect of any of the above leaving.

He could have authorised the negotiations for new contracts sooner which makes it much more likely people will want to do a deal.  As it stands both Delph and Vlaar only had to wait this season out before moving on a free.  From their point of view that sir is a no brainer.

Even if they re-signed with us it would have to be on free agent terms.  The only reason it wouldn't be like that is if absolutely no one else was interested and I can't for one moment believe that would be the case with either.

That is what he means.

Had we looked to extend both contracts last year then I suspect they both would have signed.  However if Delph is on a reported £60+k a week  then I wonder if the decision to let him run down his contract was made a while ago.  Our best midfielder or not, I wouldn't pay him any more than that, that's for sure.

I think it wasn't carelessness that has resulted in them not signing contract extensions with us. Or laziness, or malevolence. I think if there was a way that these players could be signed up to a new contract that made financial sense, considering both players' injury record, since the beginning of their contract, they would have done it. You can be sure that RL has spent a lot of money on financial consultancy. And while hindsight is a wonderful thing for us fans, I don't think that any of us can claim that we would have done a better job of financially controlling and maintaining the assets of Aston Villa. I mean Demitri, you can hardly spell to be fair. Even if we were to go through the threads of the respective players, I'm sure we'd find periods where the fans were annoyed at the length of the contracts we'd given these injury prone/rubbish players.

Contracts always have an expiry date, and all parties know what it is.

between delph and vlaar i think we have lost in value 20m. great business there lerner you fool

How is it Lerner's fault exactly? He can't force them to sign new deals no more than Lambert can

He could have carried on bankrolling us, ploughing money into the club, thereby keeping MO'N thereby keeping us exciting and competitive, thus having us Villa fans enjoy watching the football and having Villa Park bouncing... Maybe a few more decent cup runs and appearances at Wembley and in Europe...

But he didn't... and he is the chairman... The buck stops (pun unintended) with him... He didn't want to pay for quality any more, he decided that his family was more important than the fans (obviously I am biased towards us as fans... he is a billionaire after all, surely he had a few extra hundred million lying around - selfish prick), and he decided he wanted to try and get his money back instead of doing what was best for the club (selling us at cut price and trying to entice a richer, more dedicated and passionate owner to invest in us)...

End of next season will be a mass exodus…

------------------Given------------------

Lowton----Baker----Clark---Bennett

Nzog-----Bacuna------Sylla----Luna

-------Helenius---------Weimann-----

Keep 2/3 out of that lot. Baker, Clark, (Bacuna) the rest can do one!
