First time visit at Villa Park

Hi all Villa fans,

next year, I plan to visit Villa Park for the first time in my life (Villa vs. Chelski match). I will travel with one of my best friends. I will be glad if you take some time to answer my related questions:

1. Is it safe to visit Villa Park, me, as a long life Villa fan together with friend, who is a Chelski fan?

2. Is it a good idea to bring him at Holte End? Or have I choose another stand? If so, which one?

3. Three "must see" places in Birmingham before the match?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Majkee

He'll be fine, so long as he doesn't wear anything Chelsea and doesn't cheer them on.

Although, purely for his safety, you should lock the **** in a toilet before the game starts.

Not everyone is a Villa fan...

Well, no, and I'm sure your friend is very nice, but he really ought to show more class than to support Chelsea ffs :)

Well I'm not from Birmingham either so I lack much of the required hatred of the Blose, I'd actually have more respect for your mate if he supported them. Be sure and tell him this :)

1) Yes, its fine as long as he doesn't wear a Chelsea top, and doesn't go over the top with cheering when they score.

2) Another other stand would be better. Unless he can totally hide the fact he is a Chelsea fan.

3) ... hmmmm

1. You'll be fine, as long as your mate doesn't look too smug, when Costa bangs in his hattrick goal, to put them 5-0 up.

2. Sit in the Upper Trinity or North Stand Upper, and you'll be fine. You'll miss out on the atmosphere of the Holte End, but you'll get very little hassle, if your friend can't hide his elegancies.

3. Depends what you're into? Shopping, music, food, drink, art, history etc? I'd say everyone should see the beauty of Spaghetti Junction at least once in their life!  ;)

Have fun mate, hope you enjoy your day / weekend! UTV!

1. Yes, just follow the advice above, wearing blue and cheering for chelsea in the Holte end whilst probably not ending in hospital, will not end well.

2. Depends what you want from the game, will be more atmosphere behind the goals and a great view from high up on the half way line.

3. Ironbridge Gorge if you like industrial history! See if there's anything you like on here http://www.custardfactory.co.uk/at that time. The Birmingham science museum, thinktank. Birmingham museum and art gallery is good and it's on your way to a nice spot for a pint down by the canals. I left brum in 1994, and left the uk in 2005, so it's interesting going back with my other half as she sees it with a tourists eye and that's some fo the stuff she has liked, oh and the jewelry quarter.

have a good time, where you from?

Does anyone remember the game when Coventry beat us 1-0 at Villa Park few years before they got relegated?

I remember seeing a Coventry fan in Holte who jumped up and cheered when they scored. He was promptly ripped to pieces for the next minute or so until the stewards could drag the pieces of him to safety.

Not a pretty sight, I remember as soon as he jumped up thinking, you have made a terrible mistake there son.

Don't let any of jobs worth stewards find out he is a Chelski fan. Even if he behaves himself they have been programmed to hoof out anyone that is not a home team supporter sitting in the home team area. They are not very bright so you should be able to come up with a plan.

That tickled me.

ive witnessed 2 lads from spain (one in a spain shirt one iirc in a villarreal shirt) get a "**** off back to spain" outside villa park so unfortunately dont expect every villa fan to understand that coming over here to watch a game from slovakia is a great effort, but at the same time dont ever let stuff like that put you off

i also wouldnt worry too much about the holte and the atmosphere, if we win it will be brilliant in the holte, if we don't then it wont really be anything that special IMO (we do have a good record at VP vs jose though) if you're planning on going for a match day experience ie getting to villa park an hour before kick off and doing villa village etc then the trinity is a much nicer stand, although if you do the lower holte then make sure you have a pint in the holte suite at half time

chelski fan - you can see them a mile off when we play the likes of liverpool and utd, just tell him to keep quiet and enjoy the game, for the love of god no ipads! you'll be safer in the trinity but you'll be ok in the holte IMO

brum - selfridges is worth a visit, if not the shopping then the building itself is brilliant IMO, it does depend what you like, if its a nice day you can do worse than hanging round brindley place and getting something to drink / eat, the BMAG has the staffordshire gold

1 hel be fine, the villa fans will probably be asleep.

2. I've sat everywhere in vp and bar north stand lower, there isn't a bad seat really. I've been in the holte a few times and I don't really feel the atmosphere. Mainly hear ppl hurling abuse tbh. All depends on the game, but when vp is rocking, the whole place is from my experiences.

3. I'm not from Birmingham but I love Birmingham. Shopping is excellent IMO, good range of bars/restaurants. Shame your not there for the German market. Ironically, I actually think spaghetti junction is worth a look :).
