DeadlyDirk
Evening all! Got an issue with a good friends bricked iPhone 5. It's currently stuck in recovery mode, when you try and restore it through iTunes it get's to the point where it's installing the firmware, hangs at about 65% progress (on the phone) and then we get the error code (on iTunes): "Unknown Error Code 1". Tried some of the rubbish little freeware titles out there that apparently solves all of your problems, but as you can imagine they're all rubbish. It's out of warranty and all Apple tried in their shop was to restore it using iTunes themselves, which had exactly the same result.... Anyone? DeadlyDirk
Downloaded Tiny Umbrella, just can't get it to run! Tried installing the latest update of Java and have removed older instances of it, but no luck so far..
DeadlyDirk
Right got TinyUmbrella working but the phone is just permanently stuck in recovery mode, everytime you try and kick it out, it just goes back into it again...
tonyh29
I had this problem , it's quite easy to fix ( all be it I haven't done it for a few years so I'm doing it very much from memory ) You have to plug the phone in to your PC and let iTunes tell you it has found a phone in recovery mode and let it go through its prompts Keep an eye on your iPhone and At the point when your iPhone screen kinda goes blank / flashes you need to kill iTunes , next time you fire up iTunes follow any prompts on screen but do nothing to your iPhone ... This time the White bar on you iPhone will progress to the end ... The timing of killing iTunes is the key bit

DeadlyDirk
Ahh shame, she's already sent it off to Mazuma as a non-working handset. Never mind!
