Alright Chaps.

I'm heading to Barcelona with the GF in December for my birthday. Need some suggestions for things to do and places to see at that time of year.

Went last year in the summer but it was a stag do so didn't do much sight seeing etc. Mainly just bars and clubs.

Suggest away! :)

Liked Barcelona. Go la ramblas but be careful with pickpockets as their are tonnes there.

I would suggest getting open top bus for a day as ales you to all the main locations of the city like the guidi which is a very impressive cathedral

Did an open top bus last time but went to the north of the city, which ended up being pretty shit.

It was nice and all but there wasn't much in the way of sights.

So will probably do that again but make sure we stick to the south.

Barcelona don't have a home game on the weekend I'm going (13th and 14th) which is a shame.

Ramblas is fine if you want an African hooker * .. if not head to Port Olímpic  ..... much more civilised up there

*i'm sure there are non African hookers there as well , there were a lot of hookers , but the African ones were chasing you up and down the road

Funny Story ( well you had to be there , and drunk at 4am) but my mate and I jumped in a cab and said take us to our hotel please  ... needless to say neither of us actually knew the name of our hotel  ... much to our amusement .. the cabbie was not so amused and chucked us out   ... we sorta found it in the end by using buildings that looked familiar and a  lot of luck ( we have a history of this .. in Kathmandu we asked someone to take us to Hotel Everest .. there are in fact 4708 of them going by that name in KTM .. ours was in fact The Everest Hotel  )

presumably you've been up the Gaudi tower thingy .. one of the strangest buildings I've ever seen , did it with a major hangover , so maybe it isn't as strange as my eyes were telling me ?

the beaches may be a tad cold in Dec so other than that the Olympic village and the footie stadiums I'm about done :)

I was really pissed off with the Sagrada Familia.

It is an amazing building, but I queued in the rain for about two hours to get in, paid about 45 euros for entrance and audio guides for me and the missus and ended up just walking round a big church for a bit.

Glad to say I've been, but would never do it again.

We are near birthday buddies.

Change the weekend to accommodate a home game, seriously!

If not, it goes without saying that the stadium tour is a must.

Check out all of Guardi's crazy architecture including Sagrada, another must.

Best pace for drinking is the Gothic Quarter which is to the left of La Rambla if you're looking down it.  Placa George Orwell has a very odd monument to him   A statue of a tuberculosis cell (which is what killed him),

Yeah I'm gutted about missing a home game, but I don't think i can change the weekend for work commitments (for both of us)

Done the stadium tour before but might be tempted to go again if we're not seeing a game.

Don't think I could convince the GF to see an Espanyol game :)

Yeah I stayed in the gothic quarter last time, in Placa Reial. Great bars around there.

I stayed in the hotel right next to the ground when i went there for work one time .. they won the league the night i was there  .. couldn't quite see in the stadium but you could hear the noise with the windows open .... next morning the offices all had huge flags draped off them and the clients i went to meet were somewhat blurry eyed  ( this would have been around 1994 so the giant flags were getting a lot of use )

Sacred de famillie is shit.

It's not even well built, just casts using modern machinery.. Fair enough it started a long time ago, but it's like a Disney castle now, absolutely no craft or skill has gone into making it.

I was well pissed off and I didn't even go into it.
