Gompedyret
Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Metalist Kharkiv midfielder Sebastian Blanco. The 26-year-old has been with Metalist since 2011, making more than 100 league appearances Ukrainian outfit. However, it is understood that the Argentine wants to seek pastures new this summer. According to the Daily Mail, Villa are interested in the attacking midfielder's services and could make an official offer this week. Blanco has made two appearances for his country. From Sports Mole. Attacking, creative midfielder? Yes please. Don't know if this particular fella will be the one to really make the Villa click, but I like the link. alreadyexists Posted August 19, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted August 19, 2014 I've never heard of Metalist Kharkiv, or the player... Maybe someone can fill in the Blanco's. I've no idea if he'd be good enough, if the fee is small and wages low then there isn't much risk. You'd have to think though a player that (on stats at least) seems average in the Ukrainan league might not be up to PL standard. Has played for Argentina, but not since 2010 as far as I can see. Might be great, might be poor, probably somewhere in between.
sne
Well the top teams in Ukraine (Kiev & Shakhtar) are usually pretty good and Metalist is the 3rd best team. Metalist is ranked 40th in Europe and a regular in the Europa League. The top ukranian teams have a very good scouting in Brazil and Argentina and the number of south american players who have taken the route from Ukraine to other european teams is countless. As for Blanco, no idea. As you say the stats are not very good
VillanousOne
apparently he looks bad in training but is always all white on the night. Edited August 19, 2014 by VillanousOne

Might be great, might be poor, probably somewhere in between. Seriously? Is it really that remarkable? Anyway, a mildly amusing story about Metalist Kharkiv: ""I attended a match this August between Dinamo Kiev and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, who were at the time both in the top five of the Ukrainian top division," writes Adrian Rogstad. "The match was a dreary 0-0 draw attended by just 17,000, so the best entertainment came from the two teams' fan groups, who my local 'guides' told me had a friendly relationship." ""In the second half, they would on occasion join in each others' songs (which I have no idea what were about), and towards the end were united in a chant of 'Metalist is a team of condoms', referring to Metalist Kharkiv, a club both of the groups apparently despise. I have no idea if calling someone a 'condom' is a common insult in Ukraine or whether the choice was merely due to the fact that 'team' (komanda) and 'of condoms' (kondoma) rhymes in Russian."" skarroki
This seems quite uninspiring, I can't Sebas(tian) the average stats in a below average league [sebas sounds a bit like see pass? Thought I'd at least attempt a pun] I don't think he'd be a bad signing. Offer competition and there are enough other options in that position to move him out of the team if he doesn't adjust to the league.
Ponky
Clearly some names are far more conducive to pun-play than others.
