Going into the month in 3rd place, conceding only one goal, don't even have our talisman back yet, and potentially another signing or two by night's end. Very pleased with the start, because we have a nightmare run of games coming up. Securing 7 points going into that run gives us a little cushion.

6.5/10

We have got off to the good start we needed. Now bracing myself for the fall back down to earth as the Premier League table begins to take it's more normal look over the next month or so...

Apart from the cup result last month, the team have delivered pretty much what was needed. I'm yet to be convinced that they can keep it up...

I'll take 3 or 4 points from the nightmare run of 5 games we have next. As that means 10 points from 8 games will result in final total of 48. That's before we factor how tough the opposition was and Benteke to come back.

difficult to say. Have gone with slightly optimistic and 9-12, although well aware the following month could open up our weakness' more drastically. Still, we do look a far more solid outfit so as much as we may struggle to pick up points in the next few games, I'm confident we won't be mullered. Still thoroughly pissed off with the league cup exit, and it's a shame we couldn't get the extra one or two players the manager was looking for, but overall the transfer window has seen an undeniable improvement to our first team and squad. 6/10. Dropping a point for the cup exit.

Comfortable mid table finish for me.

I am not panicking at all about the next 5 games...we are not the only side that have to play those 5. Whoever, can gain the most points from those games will be in a good position. After all, we done well against those sides last season, except for Everton who are leaking goals. Moreover, we ran both Arsenal and Liverpool close at home and would have gained all three points at Anfield with our current defence. We also beat Man city and Chelsea at home and were robbed of a point at the Bridge. We had a great win at the Emirates on the opening day and lost to a last minute goal at Goodison Park. I believe that we can do equally well against those sides again especially with confidence being high and a new found resilience. Important that heads do not drop when the first defeat is experienced.
