Paris

Anyone got a talent for finding decent priced holidays? I'm looking at taking the missus and little daughter to Paris in September, to go to Disneyland. I only want to stay over there for one night.

Ideally I'd like to spend no more than £400 on the entire trip with tickets, finding it for that price is proving to be difficult!

Strangely my brother is there now doing the exact same thing pretty much (Spending 2 days at Disney Land). He spent ages trying to find the best deal he could but in the end I think it worked out that the 3 of them couldn't stay there for any less than £600 for 2 nights, and that's in their 2star hotel. I'm pretty sure he drove too. If you want me to find out more I can do when he's back. Maybe the time of year hikes the price up a bit? Not sure. Think you'll be lucky doing it for £400.

However, I don't know the ins and outs so maybe he's doing something that puts the price up. He kept banging on about how pricey it was so.... I think he went for a basic package.

I've found it for £360 for one night and Disney tickets.

Eurostar is £118 (child is free), hotel is £82 for one night, a Disney hotel, and a train to London from Birmingham is about £55 for 2 adults (child free again). Disney tickets are £106 (child free)

Have to disagree, Paris is a wonderful wonderful city. One of the great cities of the World. I had a great weekend there, people were lovely and plenty to do and see.

Luckily you will barely meet any parisians in paris. The majority of people there in the shops and cafes are of north african descent.

I have a love/hate relationship with paris. Love parts of it especially around the latin quarter area. The restaurants are sublime, the museums are superb, and the architecture is breathtaking. However, the hotels are ridiculously overpriced, I never feel completely safe there especially when im with my gf, and the airport is filthy.

In terms of the OP's question, my friend went with his daughter, he looked everywhere online but couldn't beat the prices coop travel were offering. All that hassle of getting there just for one night seems a biy pointless to me though. Surely 2 nights needed at least.

1 night will make it a struggle to get value I reckon.

Staying at a Disney Hotel is a good idea because then your park tickets get you in early - we used this last year and we got on every ride we wanted before the hoards of day trippers arrived. That was really worth while, peak season, two goes on space mountain without any queuing.

As for Paris itself, excellent, clean, friendly and safe. A cheesey open top bus tour will show you all the sites in a short space of time if you're just check listing photo opportunities.

I'd been a few times in the past and enjoyed it but had a few reservations about how co-operative or welcoming the locals were. This time there was a sea change, everybody everywhere was lovely. Came home working out when we could go back.

One little tip - if you use anything like Tesco points or an AA renewal etc see if you can get discount on the tunnel. We used Tesco vouchers to get us through the tunnel for free and drove down in a couple of hours - again, French motorways were easy to navigate and a pleasure to drive on.

I'v heard a lot of people say negative things about French people, especially the ones in Paris. Never been so can't judge. Paris is on my list of places to go though.

Nothing wrong with the french. Just seems a negative sterotype that people assume to be true. If you go paris you will be lucky to meet a handful of french people anyway.

I've been loads of times both for work and for pleasure  and never had any problems , they are like a lot of European nations where they don't do politeness in the same extent we do so don't expect them to queue in a civilised manner when a metro train pulls in etc  (but tbf I used to catch the tube in the rush hour in London and manners went out the window there as well)

Mrs H went with her girlie mates and hated the place and moaned about how rude they were (and how smelly the pace was )  , they were all Hungarians , so they can't even be accused of having the English perception of the French :)

Paris has some great /interesting stuff to see  , my last European adventure had some nice places but no "wow" factor that yer Paris or London has so its definitely worth a visit

you can only speak as you find

I was walking through a quiet street just off the beaten track when two ladies offered me and my missus sex, they opened their coats and were nude. We'd have had to pay, but it was clearly a serious offer.

Unfortunately, my missus gave a stern 'non' before I felt we'd fully considered the proposition.

We ended up in a little shop buying lots of expensive artisan jam as presents for relatives. Not the afternoon I'd briefly imagined.
