Villan4Life Posted April 5, 2014 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Looks like some near local derbies next season as they almost back in Premiership, if results go their way possibly even by 5pm Had some good games with them! the 4-4 at Villa Park when we was 4-1 up with 9 minutes left in mid 90's springs to mind! The French scout for them or whoever spotted them has struck gold with Anthony Knockaert (around 1mil) and one very good footballer and Riyad Mahrez (cost £400k in January and been an absolute steal, he is possibly as good or if not better than Knockaert) Those 2 will be their key to survival in premiership.. Villan4Life Posted April 5, 2014 Author Share Posted April 5, 2014 (edited) My mate has just said who is a massive Leicester fan that a guy named Steve Walsh (NOT the Steve Walsh who was a defender in the 90's for them) is finding these french gems for peanuts Steve WalshAssistant Manager Along with fellow Assistant Manager Craig Shakespeare, Steve Walsh followed Nigel Pearson back to Leicester City in November 2011 to begin a second spell at the club and continue the work he started in July 2008. The Assistant Manager, and Head of Recruitment helped Pearson and Shakespeare bring in 32 players to the Club in their first stint at King Power Stadium – a period that saw The Foxes claim the League 1 crown and reach the Championship Play-Offs the following season. An accomplished non-league player, the highly regarded Walsh has worked for a host of clubs in a scouting capacity, including Bury, Chester, Chelsea and Newcastle – where he first came across City boss Pearson. Alongside a 30 year career as Head of Physical Education for a number of comprehensive schools, Walsh worked part-time as a scout for Chelsea for 16 years, where he is credited with recommending the signings of players such as Tore Andre Flo and Gianfranco Zola. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho then persuaded Walsh to take on the full-time role of European Scout shortly after his arrival, where he worked closely with Andre Villas-Boas on the signings of Didier Drogba and Michael Essien. However Walsh was lured from his position at Chelsea by then-Newcastle United manager Sam Allardyce, where he linked up with Pearson, who had joined as assistant boss in 2006. That partnership was to continue in 2008 when Walsh followed Pearson to Leicester, achieved promotion from League 1 and a top six position in the Championship before a spell at Hull City and then finally back to Leicester alongside Pearson and Shakespeare in 2011. Remember it only too well. Crazy scoreline, but you could see it coming as clear as day. Comical defending... reminiscent of the current team I don't mind Leicester and be good to see them back. VillaChris Posted April 5, 2014 Share Posted April 5, 2014 They were a proper bogey team for us in the 90s, could never beat them and they also beat us in the carling cup semi in 2000. Still time has passed and we did beat them twice the last time they were in the prem so the hoodoo is long gone. Good to have them back, hopefully derby will join them so two local trips. It's difficult to say how they'll do. The trend in the last few years has been for the winners of the championship to actually do the worst of the promoted clubs (Cardiff, QPR, Reading) but they do have some interesting players, Konckaert is an exciting flair player so interested to see if he does better than Taarabt in the prem.
