Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Don't think there's a topic for this yet.

The gameplay trailer is out for this now and it looks interesting.

Most LotR games I've played have usually not been very good, barring possibly the Return of the King licensed game back on PS2.

Will this finally be the one game to rule them all?

Looks like a mix of Assassin's Creed and Batman: Arkham style game-play, which isn't a bad thing if done well. The Nemesis system looks really interesting as well.

It's also an original story, which doesn't seem to stick to canon, so I'm a bit iffy on that.

I really hope that it turns out well.

I believe it was Pablo Picasso (and later echoed by Steve Jobs) who said: "Good artists copy, great artists steal."

If you're going to steal, steal from the best. This is definitely no bad thing.

The only thing that concerns me from admittedly what little I've seen and read about the game is whether it will have enough variety.

I agree with the concept but when you just feel like you are being sold the same thing over and over it can get tiresome. I'm not a huge fan of third person character action games so it could just be me I guess.

I think they ripped out some of the movement and such from assasin's creed. Not really a huge deal for me as it's quite good on its own but I am more worried about the combat. It looks great in the videos I have seen but kinda worried it might be clumsy on harder settings.  From what I have seen most people just breeze through it. To be fair, they have shown gameplay from a guy that is very good at the game on several sites. Also a bit dissapointing that the whole nemesis enemies aren't roaming the open world, because that system looks really cool. Probably gonna pick it up if the port is okay.

Searched up a link by the assasin's creed thing-> http://www.gamespot.com/articles/former-ubisoft-developer-accuses-shadow-of-mordor-of-using-code-from-assassin-s-creed/1100-6417307/
