The Thread of Dreams

Literally. Has anyone had any weird dreams lately or dreams in the past that are pretty memorable? I'm on some meds at the moment that are giving me these ridiculous, psychedelic, hallucinogenic dreams. I sometimes wonder if I could make films out of the crap I dream.

Last night I was in North Korea with Princess Anne. I'm not sure why but she was on the run and I had to help her get out. Things got a bit complicated when I was told by someone in a factory I was inexplicably working in that I had to try and get out of the country myself because they had decided that I had been keeping slaves and wanted to execute me for it (but it was all lies).

And then I just woke up. So I don't know if dream me ever escaped.

So, any mental dreams recently or in the past?

I have 2 recurring dreams.

The first isn't exactly the same each time, but it always follows the same pattern.

I'm on a flight to the states, and the plane struggles to take off. In a ludicrously dramatic fashion. Like we'll have to touch down on the motorway after take off to get enough speed to take off again. And we'll be hitting trees and pylons and shit as we're trying to take off.

We never actually crash, and sometime there's an extra episode where I'll lose my passport in the airport, but yeah, I have that regularly.

The second is I'm playing football. Sometimes realistically like for a sunday league team, sometimes unrealistically like for Villa or England.

Anyway, the problem is I'll be unable to play because I can't stay on the ground long enough. It's like I'm playing in almost zero gravity, but everyone else is fine. So when the ball comes towards me, I can't get my foot down in time to control it.

I put them both down to some sort of anxiety. But yeah, they're both regular, The second one more so. I reckon I have that once every couple of weeks.

I've never had recurring dreams but I have dreams like that quite a lot. Like being in firefights but my gun wont fire or being in fistfights and having absolutely no strength.

Incredibly frustrating. Also when you try to run but you just can't, or you go in slow motion. Fuuuuck!

Has anyone ever been killed in a dream? It happens to me quite often, I remember getting shot in the face by Knuckles the Echidna in a custard factory (not the nightclub, a literal custard factory). Another time I was in Woolworths when a stranger shot me (again in the face) because I picked a game out of the bargain bin.

It ain't half a relief when I wake up and realise that I have not actually been shot in the face.

I remember having a dream where my family nursed an injured bat back to health and when it was released back into the wild, as it flew away I shouted out at it 'shine on you crazy diamond'! Not long after that Syd Barrett died, not that I think I can see into the future of course.

Similarly in another dream I recorded an album with Michael Jackson (even though in real life I can't play any instruments) I made all the sounds in Audacity and he sang over the top of them. We put the seven songs on seven separate cassettes but for some reason Michael decided to throw each one of the seven cassettes in his favourite rivers, I was mad as the cassettes were going to be worth fifteen pounds each.

I get Night Terrors a lot where I wake up but my body can't move and I experience strange hallucinations usually auditory sometimes also have the sensation of moving around the room, feels as real as anything and often really terrifying, at first I wondered what was going on, thought I was having a  schizophrenic episode or wondered if poltergeists are real after all :)

I'm telling you now, I am going to be a hugely contributing factor to why this thread will never die, I have ridiculously crazy dreams constantly.

I had one two nights ago where I started off in my old high school's changing rooms getting ready to get into the swimming pool, but that quickly changed to me being in America and running across a snowy runway towards an airport. As I was running, there was a plane coming in to land off in the distance, but as it came in low it ended up going crazy and started spinning towards the ground. It was horrific to watch and when the inevitable happened the explosion was so loud and forceful it knocked me off my feet. I remember that I really had to phone my mum immediately to reassure her I wasn't onboard.

That's one of the less weird ones. Most of mine jump randomly from place to place with very different situations, but whenever I'm in my dream I never think how weird and disjointed they are, they just make sense to me when I'm in there.

Yep, I used to get the running one all the time. As I said, someone told me once it came from anxiety, and I'd assume the other variations like the gunfight asnd my football one are all the same sort of thing

This is why I like bad dreams better than good dreams. When you wake up froma  good dream you're always totally disappointed.

When you wake up and realise you aren't about to be eaten by a T Rex, you've never felt better!

That's the sort of thing I've been having recently. I 'wake up' but I'm kind of aware that I'm not really awake but it feels as if I am (hard to explain). The other night I had this and I could see a police officer in full riot gear but with a completely hidden face in my bedroom looking ready to strike me but also backing away very slowly and I sat up and was convinced it can't be real so I shut my eyes a few times and opened them and it was still there. Genuinely the most terrified I have ever been. I actually took my pillow and threw it across the room at it to see if it would go through it and it did and then it disappeared. About 4am but that was the end of sleep that night!

When i was a kid, I used to sleep in this tiny square boxroom and my recurring nightmare was always about an elephant in a cube, with myself crouching in one corner. The elephant would expand as the dream went on and I would wake up in absolute terror. I no longer have the dream (nearly fifty years on) but its as vivid and terrifying today as it was then. Oh, and I suffer from claustrophobia quite badly these days.

Last night I dreamed I uncovered a secret illegal tiger breeding farm being run by our town council clique! I'm almost tempted to take a walk by the farm later on, which does actually exist, just to break my dream.
