Those stories that just won't go away right now

So, today in the Daily Mail there is a report that, for all intents and purposes, states that Martin O'Neill is considering a 2-for-1 deal with his Spurs counterpart to bring in David Bentley as well as either Didier Zokora or Tom Huddlestone. This led me to the question - what on earth are we doing?

If Gareth Barry hadn't replaced his Continental GT with an Aston Martin the last time we gave him a massive pay rise, this article would have begun with a stonking car park gag. But it wasn't to be.

Why the backlash against the Club?

Since today's announcement the mood around here has changed notably.

There's been alot of keyboard warrior type stuff with exclamations of people cancelling their season tickets and what seems to be abuse of almost personal proportions against MON. My biggest gripe about today's episode is nothing to do with the club but with the fans on here, simply because I don't why it is the clubs fault and why all the anger is being vented towards the club and the management.

The Manchester United machine and the future of Aston Villa

At the end of 1991/92 Manchester United and Aston Villa had both won 7 league titles; we were both one league title short of Sunderland and two short of Everton. Whizz forward to May 2009, the end of the 2008/09 season and Manchester United have won 18 league titles. Villa, Sunderland and Everton all have no more to their name.

How did United do this? Well, Alex Ferguson has done it. One man, one mind. O'Neill is building Villa on familiar turf to how fergie did at United. We must not lose patience. We must continue to believe in O'Neill's vision.

Who would have thought when we beat WBA on 10th January that we would have to wait nearly four months for our next and sixth home league win of the season? But, win we did to move back into fifth and we did it on the back of our first clean sheet in almost three months!

ChrisVillan sank into his hoodie in the Trinity Road stand when Everton went 2-0 up and hasn't been heard from since. After weeks of trying, the cleaners at Villa Park finally dragged the sulking miserable sod out of his seat and, after a cup of tea and a bostin' chicken balti, he's back in action.

North Sound Off - Bolton Away Report

Not a great game today at the Reebok. it was a case of one team pretty much aiming at getting a point, to ensure they live to fight another year, and the other team, Villa, sort of not wanting to lose, but not being good enough, or motivated enough, or coherent enough to win. So a fair result in the end.

Case FOR the Defence

So many of our fans are looking at our recent defensive frailty as a problem with the performance of the back-four alone, and the absence of Laursen. I think there's more to it than that, and here's a list of reasons why:
